First Steps

Welcome to Legendary. You've got the client running, you're in-game — now what?

This page walks you through the first 15–20 minutes: getting your character set up, picking up starter gear, and launching the core progression path. Follow these steps in order and you won't miss anything important.

1. Warp to GM Home

The moment you're in-game, type this in chat:

!gmhome

This teleports you instantly to GM Home — the server hub where almost every setup NPC lives. You'll come back here constantly. Bookmark the command.

2. Talk to Character Upgrader

Find the Character Upgrader NPC in the Utility cluster (middle section of GM Home).

This NPC sets up everything a new character needs in a few menu clicks:

Option What it does
Weapon Skills Unlocks all weapon skills for your current job
Spells Grants all magic spells appropriate to your job
Trusts Unlocks your full trust roster
Skills Caps all combat and magic skills to your level
Outpost Warps Unlocks all outpost warps, including Tu'Lia and Tavnazia

Tip

Do all of these now. There's no cost and no catch — it's all one-time setup. Skills capping manually would take hours; this takes seconds.

3. Talk to Key Item Moogle

Right next to the Character Upgrader, find the Key Item Moogle.

One conversation grants you the full set of ~4,000 key items at once. This opens zone access, mission flags, teleport items, and everything else that key items gate.

Note

This is a single-use NPC — you only need to talk to it once per character. After that first conversation, it's done.

4. Talk to Mission Moogle

The Mission Moogle (also in the Utility cluster) lets you skip any story missions you don't want to play through.

You can skip by expansion:

  • Rise of the Zilart
  • Chains of Promathia
  • Treasures of Aht Urhgan
  • Wings of the Goddess
  • Seekers of Adoulin
  • Return to Vana'diel

Or skip all missions at once with a single menu option.

Tip

If you want to play through some story content, skip only what you don't care about. You can always skip more later. Mission progress doesn't gate anything on this server — you're not missing out on gear or progression by keeping them open.

5. Talk to Gear Moogle

The Gear Moogle (Progression cluster, near the front of GM Home) hands out a one-time starter gear kit.

This isn't BiS endgame gear — it's enough to survive your first few fights and get the Hunting League rolling. Pick it up before you head out.

6. Head to Reisenjima Henge — start the Hunting League

Once your character is set up, the next stop is the server's core progression system: the Hunting League.

!hunt

This command warps you directly to Reisenjima Henge and drops you next to the Hunt Hub and Spawner NPCs.

Don't skip this step

Without !hunt, Reisenjima Henge requires mid-Seekers of Adoulin mission progress to access. Use the command. It's always available.

What is the Hunting League?

The Hunting League is a custom rank-based NM hunting system with five ranks. You kill NMs, earn Hunt Marks, spend marks to unlock the next rank, and buy gear from the reward shop.

It's the primary path to endgame gear and the main thing to do on Legendary. For full details — ranks, NMs, rewards, recommended order — see the Hunting League page.

Quick start at Henge

  1. Talk to Hunt: Hub to see your current rank and marks.
  2. Talk to Hunt: Spawner to pop a Rank I NM (Leaping Lizzy, Valkurm Emperor, or Tom Tit Tat).
  3. Kill the NM. Each kill pays 5 Hunt Marks.
  4. Repeat until you have 12 marks, then return to Hunt: Hub to unlock Rank II.
